FAQs
How long are the sessions?
Psychotherapy and counselling sessions are 50 minutes and take place weekly at the same day and time.
Coaching sessions are 60 minutes and can be weekly or fortnightly.
How do I book?
You are welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial 15-minute phone call.
This gives us a chance to briefly explore what you are looking for and whether working together feels right.
If you would like to proceed, we will arrange an initial session, after which you can decide whether you would like to continue.
What is the commitment?
If we decide to work together, we agree on a regular session time.
This time is held specifically for you. Sessions are charged whether attended or not, as the space is reserved for your ongoing work.
Cancellations and rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. I will do my best to offer an alternative time where possible. If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, or I am unable to offer an alternative, the full session fee is payable.
Payments
Payment is due on the day of the session via bank transfer. Invoices are provided.
What is the difference between counselling, psychotherapy and coaching?
The terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably, and there is a great deal of overlap between them.
In general, counselling tends to focus more on present-day concerns or specific difficulties, while psychotherapy can involve a deeper and longer-term exploration of patterns, relationships, and emotional experiences.
In practice, the work often moves between both, depending on what you bring and what feels most helpful.
Coaching differs in that it is more focused on the present and future, with a clearer emphasis on setting goals, making decisions, and taking practical steps towards change.
Am I supervised?
Yes. My work is supported by regular clinical supervision, as per the UKCP and BACP Code of Ethics. I am a trainee member of the UKCP.
Supervision is an essential part of ethical practice and provides a space to reflect on the work, ensuring that you receive thoughtful, safe and appropriate support.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes, sessions are strictly confidential.
The only exceptions are where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or where there is a legal obligation to disclose information. If this were ever relevant, I would aim to discuss it with you openly.
As part of my professional practice, I discuss aspects of my work in clinical supervision. This may include reflecting on our work together in a way that supports the quality and safety of the therapy. Your identity and personal details are kept confidential, and supervisors are bound by the same ethical standards.
Who are BACP and UKCP?
BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) are professional bodies that set standards for training, ethics, and practice in counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.
They help ensure that practitioners work safely, ethically, and in the best interests of their clients. BACP and UKCP registered therapists complete rigorous training, including supervised clinical practice and their own personal therapy.
Who can benefit from counselling, psychotherapy or coaching?
People come to this work for many different reasons. You may be going through a difficult period, feeling overwhelmed, struggling in relationships, or noticing patterns that are hard to shift.
You do not need to have a clear reason to begin – sometimes it is simply a sense that something is not quite right, or that you would like to understand yourself more fully.
Coaching can be helpful if you are ready to make changes more actively – for example, if you are looking to move forward, find direction, or work towards specific goals.
How do you work and what outcomes can I expect?
My work is integrative and relational.
In psychotherapy, we take time to explore your experiences, patterns, and relationships in a thoughtful and collaborative way, allowing deeper understanding to develop over time.
In coaching, the work is more structured and focused on movement – clarifying direction, setting goals, and supporting you in making practical changes.
Each person’s experience is different, and what you gain from the work will depend on what you bring and the level of commitment you make to the process.
Over time, this may include:
- feeling more understood and supported in what you are going through
- processing and making sense of difficult or held emotions
- a deeper understanding of yourself, your patterns, and your choices
- clearer awareness of how you relate to others
- greater confidence in communicating and expressing yourself
- more clarity about your direction and what matters to you
- a sense of how to move forward in a way that feels more aligned
- an improved ability to manage stress and emotional pressure.
Any Question?
If you would like to get a sense of whether working together feels right, you are welcome to arrange an initial conversation. This offers a space to ask any questions and briefly explore what you are looking for.
